Kurtz Nessun Kurtz

Il Signor Kurtz is the alter ego of Marco Durante, an Umbrian natural winemaker who took the name from the enigmatic figure in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, evoking wine made as pure, undomesticated energy. Based at Vallupina near Lake Trasimeno, with experimental plots elsewhere in central Italy, Marco rejects technical shortcuts in favour of spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention. Nessun Kurtz is one of his sparkling, skin-contact bottlings - lively, slightly wild, and built to provoke a reaction rather than fit a category.
