Meskhuri Red 2018, Giorgi Natenadze
350.00 krProducer: Giorgi Natenadze
Area: Meskheti, Georgia
Giorgi´s project is probably one of the most ambitious and unique wine projects worldwide, Giorgi makes wine out of foraged wild grapes which vines are up to 400 years old. The Wild Vines are located in the southern part of Georgia close to the Turkish border where volcanic soils are predominant. Giorgi´s idea is to bring back to reality this forgotten wine region which used to be the main wine production area in the country centuries ago before the ottoman empire destroyed it. Giorgi has re-discovered 26 ancient extinct grape varieties, with some of these varieties Giorgi is replanting the abandoned vine terraces present in the Meskhetian Region.
