Producer: El Mozo Wines
Area: La Rioja Alavesa
El Mozo Wines is a small family project with more than 40 years of history located in Lanciego (Rioja Alavesa). The goal is clear for them, The wine has to be as the Grandfather used to drink it in the old days, the real old school! which is far from the modern vision of Rioja which shows over-extracted oaky wines.
With a total of 9 hectares of vineyards spread over 18 small plots all in Lanciego the project is based in traditional, sustainable and organic viticulture and the winemaking as naturally as possible. They decided to work with the maximum respect for each one of the vineyards that their parents and grandparents left them, all are little gems that in many cases were planted longer than 70 years ago The special orography of Lanciego, crossed by three streams with their respective ravine and replanos gives an amazingly fresh and mineral result!
